Services Offered:
Assistive Technology,
in this
specific program, refers to the creation and application of a wide range of
device strategies, services, and practices to improve the functional performance
or life satisfaction of any individual with a hearing loss in any life arena -
school, work, home, and community, the specialist in the North Carolina
Assistive Technology Program (NCATP) offers:

demonstration of equipment
-
loans of devices
-
provision of legal, educational, and discipline- specific information
-
participation as a team member on assessment, planning, and implementation of
assistive technologies
-
training on technologies
-
collaboration on resource management
-
Inclusion of the individual with a hearing loss and the individual's family as
team members
-
Observation of individuals with a hearing loss and service providers in their
environments, during tasks and in roles
-
Listening and responding to input from other team members
-
Using all consumers' abilities and strengths when evaluating for assistive
technology
* In addition to
individuals with hearing loss and their families, these services extend to
frontline practitioners, administrators, and policymakers
